True love stories exist. What could be more romantic than getting married to your University sweetheart, and having the wedding of your dreams? That’s what Adebimpe and Olayinka got! They sealed their love at a beautiful traditional engagement and a court registry wedding.
In the University, romance and studying often mix, but not all of them end up happily ever after! Today’s real-life Nigerian wedding features a sweet couple, who started out as University sweethearts. Their wedding story is full of inspiration and planning advice for about-to-wed brides. The couple looked lovely in their traditional engagement attire and white wedding outfits. Read their true love story and about their wedding day experience below – how they met, how he proposed and how they planned the wedding.
Finding the One: How They Met
From the bride: We first met in the middle of April 2010 – we were both studying at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State. It was my first year and he was in his third. We met at an outing event organized for new students and got talking, became friends., and later started a relationship which brought us here.
The Marriage Proposal: How He Popped the Question
He proposed in July 2014. We were at his place, watching a Nigerian love movie on Africa Magic. And then, when they got to a part in the movie where the actor proposed to his girlfriend, he paused the movie and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I said “YES”.

Just like Adebimpe and Olayinka’s love story, I’ll be getting married to my University(Olabisi Onabanjo University) boo in February 2016. We started dating on the 19th of February 2010,he proposed on August 30th 2015,we did our introduction on September 27th 2015. It’s also taking us 4 months to plan without a wedding planner. I’m happy for the both of them and I wish them a blissful marriage. Getting married to a nice person that you both attended same University and dated for years is the best thing that will ever happen to any one.
Thanks for your comment, Adanna. I know, it feels good reading about a wedding story that the couple’s love story is similar to yours, especially that you and your groom-to-be were also in the same University as the featured couple. I wish you the vert best at your 2016 wedding. We will be happy to also feature the wedding, engagement shoot, bridal shower on this blog if you contact us. Don’t be shy, dear – no anonymous allowed here – we’re a family here 🙂
